Amusing

I just happened to be in St. Louis for the 'Earth Hour' lunacy, where they even turned off the lights to the St. Louis arch for an hour to 'help save the planet from global warming.'

So what happened in St. Louis to make this even more amusing than it already was? For starters, it was an extremely cold day the whole day, well below average. Then, just a matter of a few hours after 'Earth Hour', there was heavy snow falling...

Perhaps it worked better than expected?

Where we are heading?

I just read this article today about a 'right to life' case in Great Britain. In this case, the UK courts allowed a baby's life support to be withdrawn.

What makes this case different from other cases is that the parents of the child DID NOT WANT life support removed. The child's DOCTORS decided this was for the best, gave the order to remove life support AGAINST the parents wishes, and the UK courts UPHELD this decision. Here is a quote from the article:

"Doctors treating him had said the boy's life was intolerable and his disability was such that his life had little purpose."

Welcome to the world of socialized medicine. Regardless of someone's opinion of the morality of removing life support in such cases, are these the kinds of decisions we want left only to our doctors and government? I am afraid that before too long our opinions will not matter...

Sometimes it is just depressing....

Just when I thought that Republicans may be finally getting their act together, with at least some forming a strong conservative opposition to Obama, I find out that at least some Republicans evidently cannot read or understand the Constitution.

I guess this has been going on for a while, but I just found out about it tonight. Evidently, Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah has co-sponsored a bill in the Senate, which grew from a plan devised by a Republican, Thomas M. Davis III from Virginia, which would grant the District of Columbia a VOTING seat in the House of Representatives in 'exchange' for an additional representative from the state of Utah. I suppose Article 1, Section 2 is not clear enough for Senator Hatch.

If Republicans cannot be counted on to defend the Constitution over something so basic, what hope do we have against Obama and his ongoing socialist revolution?

The most disgusting thing I have ever read...

The animal rights group P.E.T.A. has always been 'out there', but this makes some of their past actions seem positively normal...

The president of P.E.T.A. has stated that the group wants to use sweat from a gym towel used by the actor George Clooney, to create 'George Clooney flavored Tofu' which will help "spare animals from being killed for the table."

Lets see...hamburger or George Clooney flavored tofu....Maybe when my stomach finally returns to normal, I can think of more to say on the subject...

What was he thinking?

Not that long ago, Obama wanted Republican Senator Judd Gregg from New Hampshire to be his Commerce Secretary. This nomination was initially accepted by Senator Gregg, but ultimately rejected when he abruptly withdrew his name from consideration.

Today, Senator Gregg attacked the Obama budget forecast as a 'lie' in a hearing at the Senate Budget Committee.

Thank God Senator Gregg appears to have returned to his senses, but I still have to wonder just what was going on in his mind to have ever even considered a post in the Obama administration, considering his conservative views. Hopefully, he won't have any more lapses of sanity anytime soon...

Sick from the Stimulus?

I found this posted by fellow blogger 'Wesley M.' on his blog 'In My Copious Free Time'. If this were real, someone would be making a fortune!

Moderate Awakening?

Interesting op-ed in the New York Times today. David Brooks, a self-proclaimed 'moderate' (I prefer the term 'spineless'), who spends quite a bit of time bashing conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin, has written a piece (read it here) that basically admits that him and other moderates like him were 'wrong' about Obama.

What I find funny is the genuine surprise he expresses at the size of the Obama budget, and the far left tilt to his agenda. How anyone can be surprised is beyond me.

Of course, he cannot pass up the opportunity to take a few shots at the right wing in this article, and amusingly declares that it will be up to moderates like him to stop the excesses of the Obama administration and put the country back on the right track.

Assuming this is true, it will be interesting to see moderates finally expressing opinions of their own, and taking firm stances on policy positions without first taking a public opinion poll....
